Hippy Fit is the name Ashley Schroeder has given to her wellness presence and platform.
My journey began in the body, fitness has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was a competitive gymnast, then a back injury led me to CrossFit. A few years into my CrossFit journey, I achieved a significant milestone: competing at the 2018 CrossFit Games in the Teenage Girls 14-15 year old division.
The next two years I strived to return to the Games, pushing my body beyond its limits. This led to multiple injuries and a severe case of burnout. As I scaled back my training, I embarked on a new path—becoming a trainer. I began coaching group classes in December 2019 and my passion for fitness blossomed in a new way.
Yet the injuries still lingered. One of the most significant injuries was two torn discs in my lower back. This injury, while initially devastating, proved to be a profound blessing in disguise. It led me to a movement specialist who became my mentor. Through his guidance, I delved into the principles of pain and injury prevention, mindset, and effective coaching. I use this experience to ensure that those I teach any form of movement to are safe.
It was also during this time that my journey began to evolve beyond the physical. I turned inward, discovering journaling, spiritual study, and meditation as ways to connect with my inner self. As I explored these practices, I realized that true healing isn’t just about the body—it’s about nurturing the mind, heart, and spirit.
Everything truly came into alignment when a client suggested I pursue yoga teacher training. It wasn’t until she suggested the Jane's House Yoga Teacher Training that I realized yoga was the perfect marriage of my passions. Yoga has allowed me to merge my love for movement with the creation of an inner experience that not only nurtures the body but also creates space for stillness, clarity, and balance—qualities that reflect our truest nature.
These days, on a typical day, I'm a yoga teacher, co-host of a short term vacation rental, and avid hiker. Whether it's flowing through a yoga sequence, trekking through nature's wonders, or simply sitting in stillness, my mission is to discover inner peace and outer strength. For the past couple of years I have spent lots of time living in and traveling to Sedona, AZ. I immersed myself in daily hikes, discovered yummy, nourishing food, and found the hidden gems of this enchanting place. I have recently moved back and started sharing Sedona’s magic through retreat experiences.
I embrace the name Hippy Fit because, like the 60s hippies, my guiding principles are peace, love, freedom, and authenticity. By integrating movement, nurturing the internal world, and understanding how we nourish ourselves and the world around us, we can cultivate a life that celebrates profound well-being.
